Between the two options, the Turbo II unit is generally more plentiful, cheaper, and equivalent or better in strength. An upgrade to a Turbo II or Twin Turbo RX-7 transmission is the simplest upgrade. The durability of the FB transmission is suspect at the HP and torque levels generated by a turbocharged engine. Best to over design this area by at least 20%. The clutch isn't easy to change, and worst of all it's an expensive setup. The situation deteriorates rapidly because each time it slips, the whole system overheats, making it more likely to slip the next time. I once built a modified car with a clutch that didn't have enough torque capability, and it's a frustrating problem. I spoke with their sales rep and decided this was a good setup for my application because I was already used to driving a puck-style clutch, and the 500 ft-lb torque capacity would ensure I wouldn't have any slippage issues, even if I ran much higher boost.
I went with an ACT lightweight steel flywheel, ACT Extreme pressure plate and an ACT six-puck solid hub disc.
